Former Main Line Boy Scout Leader Faces Child Porn Charge in NJ

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — Federal authorities have charged a former Boy Scout leader in New Jersey with receiving and distributing child pornography.

The investigation leading to the arrest of 47-year-old Gerrett Conover of Woolwich Township, NJ began in April in Boston.

Federal prosecutors say evidence showed that Conover engaged in sexually explicit chats and traded child pornography with a Massachusetts man.

Officials say they arrested Conover when he entered the United States from Canada earlier this month.

Prosecutors say they found more than 50 child pornography images on his computer. They also say there was an online chat in which Conover claimed he had a longterm relationship with a boy when he was a Boy Scout leader on the Main Line from 1990 to 2000.

Conover is scheduled to make an initial court appearance in Camden on Friday.
