PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A female driver was hospitalized after the SUV she was driving slammed into a trolley in Philadelphia early Monday morning.

The crash happened at about 2 a.m. at 6th Street and Girard Avenue in the Northern Liberties section.

According to investigators, the female driver lost control of her Chevrolet Blazer and slammed into the Route 15 SEPTA trolley. The impact of the crash was so intense that it knocked the trolley off its tracks. After hitting the trolley, the SUV then crashed into a utility pole.

The unidentified female driver had to be extracted from the SUV and was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital where she is listed in stable condition.

The driver of the trolley was also taken to Hahnemann for observation.

Police say two male passengers who were riding with the woman in the SUV ran away from the scene after the crash.
