Fishtown Beer Garden To Host 15 Day Oktoberfest Celebration

By Chelsea Karnash

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Dust off your dirndl and head to Frankford Hall for what might just be the city's largest Oktoberfest celebration.

The Stephen Starr beer garden is hosting numerous events for the beer-lover's favorite time of year starting this Saturday with a family-friendly pig-roast that includes face-painting, balloon artists and free food for the kids.

Throughout the next two weeks, events like the special "Oktoberfest Beer Nerd Night," a science-based lecture on beer to be held on Sept. 19; the Oktoberfest Ping Pong Tourney (Sept. 24); and the Beer Olympics (Sept. 26), featuring games like stein-carrying and can tosses; are happening almost every day.

But the biggest event of all is the upcoming Oktoberfest Street Festival, happening on Saturday, Sept. 22nd, with 10 hours of Oktoberfest fun including three beer trucks, German food specials, live music, a family area and of course, the Ceremonial Keg Tapping.

Oktoberfest events at Frankford Hall run through Sept. 30th. For more on the festivities, visit: www.frankfordhall.com
