Another Bensalem School District Employee Arrested

By Brad Segall

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) -- A second employee from the Bensalem School District is under arrest accused of taking part in what police believe may be a stolen property ring operating out of the district's bus garage.

Bensalem police confirm the arrest of 61-year-old Martin Chappell, who was employed by the school district as a mechanic for the past two decades.

The charges against Chappell include theft and receiving stolen property. Police say he was involved in multiple thefts from the garage over an extended period of time.

He was sent to the Bucks County Prison on $50,000 bail.

Chappell's arrest follows last week's arrest of Frederick Lange, the 68-year-old head mechanic at the garage. Police say Lange was buying truck batteries, tires and other automotive accessories on the district's dime and then reselling them on the side and pocketing the profits. (See Related Story)

Police say the investigation is continuing.
