Eagles Injury Update

By Ed Benkin

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Eagles held their first practice at the Novacare Complex since breaking camp at Lehigh.

There was good news on the injury front for the Eagles.  Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha returned to practice three days after suffering a cut lip and a sore neck in a collision with Nate Allen.  Andy Reid said Asomugha will be ready to play on Monday.  "It's important that we all understand we are still in training camp," Andy Reid.  "We are still going to work hard and at the same time we've got a Monday Night game against New England that we are going to prepare for."

Also on the injury front, Defensive Tackle Jason Babin (torn calf muscle) and Quarterback Mike Kafka (broken hand) remained sidelined, although Reid said they could both return before the final preseason game.  Reid also said the top unit will get plenty of work on Monday night in New England. "The ones will get the majority of the work in this game so they'll at least play a half and possibly into the third quarter," Reid said. " This will be the game they play the most in this preseason. After this game, we really just have one day of practice before we move on to play Cleveland. That's the reason behind that."

Quarterback Michael Vick is looking forward to the extended work on Monday. "I'm very excited about playing against New England," said Vick.  "I'm looking forward to getting out there and playing three quarters, getting into a rhythm, seeing their defense, reacting, and just playing the game and having fun playing the game of football. I'm very excited about that and I can't wait."
