'Wacky But Not Tacky' Events Happening In Ocean City, NJ

By Chelsea Karnash

OCEAN CITY, NJ (CBS) – One of the Jersey shore's most family-friendly towns is throwing a special week of "weird" events, starting Monday.

Ocean City, NJ's "Weird Week" runs Aug. 13-17, and there are five days of "Wacky But Not Tacky" events for families to partake in.

First up on the schedule? A salt water taffy sculpting contest, sponsored by Shriver's. In the past, winning works of art have ranged from unicorns to a ferris wheel.

Then, on Tuesday, visitors can challenge themselves to create something out of french fries supplied by the Promenade.

Other contests slated to put families to the test include "That's the Way the Cookie Crumbles," a cookie sculpting challenge; "Ears Looking at You," an ear wiggling contest; and a number of talent-show inspired events like "Little Miss and Mr. Chaos" and "Mrs. and Mister Miscellaneous."

Contests begin at 11 a.m. and will be held at the Music Pier at Moorlyn Terrace and the Boardwalk. For more information, visit: www.ocnj.us.
