Annual Pennsylvania Dutch Festival Brings Hard To Find Foods
By Mike DeNardo
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Amish traditions are taking center stage for the next few days at the Reading Terminal Market, for the Pennsylvania Dutch Festival.
There are Pennsylvania Dutch at the Reading Terminal Market year-round. But this 23rd annual festival brings out Amish crafts and food you can't normally get -- like Moses Smucker's chicken pot pie -- which is more like a soup.
"Pie in a regular crust, that's chicken pie or beef pie," Smucker says. "This is pot pie because you throw the dough in a pot."
Market spokeswoman Sarah Levitsky says in addition, there are other favorites including funnel cakes and shoofly pie.
"We also have the donuts that are being made, fresh in Center Court," she adds. "And they are one of our star attractions."
The Pennsylvania Dutch Festival runs though Saturday.
