Two Arrested In Delaware Burglary Turned Confrontation

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Police in New Castle County have arrested an attempted burglar and a resident who assaulted and bound the man before police arrived.

Police say 25-year-old Darrell Robinson forced his way into an apartment in Wilmington on Wednesday. A struggle ensued with the home's resident, 36-year-old Trimell Heyward. Heyward ultimately gained control and assaulted Robinson with a machete, pulled Robinson's pants down and instructed a family member to bind Robinson's ankles.

When police arrived, a pot of boiling water was on the stove and was allegedly going to be poured onto Robinson.

Police say an investigation revealed Heyward is a known drug dealer. Police found marijuana, crack cocaine, oxycodone and xanax pills in the home.

Both men are facing numerous charges.
