Tourism Up This Summer In Philadelphia

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's been a great summer for tourism in Philadelphia.

Cara Schnieder with the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation says the statistics look good for Philadelphia tourism this summer.

"Hotel occupancy is actually up 4% for June this year versus last year," says Schnieder.

Reporter: "What do you attribute to the increase in tourism this year?"

Schnieder: "A blockbuster lineup of things to do and I think it's years of hearing things about Philadelphia. We are marketing our little hearts out!"

The hot summer doesn't seem to have had an impact on visitors.

Reporter: "Has the heat in Philadelphia deterred you from visiting any of the sites or anything?"

Tourist: "The heat? It's like 10 or 15 degrees cooler here than what it is in South Alabama so no."

Reporter: "So to you, this is no heat wave."

Tourist: "Oh no, this is great!"

So what are folks here to see?

"All the basic sites, yes," said one tourist.

"We did Chinatown for brunch and then the Constitution Center," another tourist explained.

"We may go to the U.S. Mint, to the museum, Please Touch Museum for the kids," said another tourist.
