Soul Wrap Up Regular Season Sunday Vs. Utah

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Coming off a bye week, the Philadelphia Union wrap up the regular season on Sunday evening at the Center as they host Utah.

Philadelphia is 14-3 and they have already clinched home field in the playoffs, but Soul head coach Doug Plank says this game is important to start getting everyone ready for the postseason.

"Utah is in the playoffs, so this is definitely playoff mentality.  We are going to be going against one of the best quarterbacks in the league, the guy that's generated more offensive statistics, touchdown, than anybody else (Tommy Grady - 137 touchdown passes).   We want to find out where we measure up against this team and so this is a perfect opponent to get us into playoff mode."

Listen to Matt Leon's entire interview with Doug Plank.

It's been a wonderful season for the Soul, but Plank says they can continue to get even better.

"You go and look at every one of these games that we've played so far.  We've made a number of mistakes - offense, defense, special teams.  So I guess we are like every other team, we are trying to find that perfect game and we hope that we can reach it in the playoffs."

Utah is 12-5 and tied for first with Arizona in the Arena Football League's Western Division.

The Soul will host the first-round of the playoffs on Saturday, July 28th.  The opponent is still to be determined.

Kickoff between the Soul and the Blaze is set for 6:05 on Sunday evening.
