Lesley's Last Word: Flyers Give Weber 14-Year Offer Sheet

By Lesley Van Arsdall

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The biggest sports news of the day is the extraordinary offer sheet the Flyers have made to Nashville defenseman Shea Weber.

Arguably the top defenseman in the NHL. The Flyers wouldn't disclose the terms of the offer, but multiple sources say it's a deal worth more than $100 million over 14 years.

The Predators now have a week to match the offer. He is the team's captain, and after losing Ryan Suter to the Wild, can they afford to let him go?

I think the chances of him playing for the Flyers are good. But the fact they are investing so much in Weber tells me Chris Pronger will not be coming back to the team. This is probably as close to an announcement as we will ever get from the Flyers.
