Man In Critical Condition After Being Shot With Baby Daughter In The Car

By Nicole Brewer

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A baby girl was spared, but her father was shot several times inside his black Nissan Altima, which was parked at the corner of 4th and Jefferson Streets shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday.

"I looked over and saw the guy shooting holes in the car," said one passerby.

Neighbors rushed to the scene as the gunman fled. They rescued a one-year-old little girl from the back seat of the car.

"These people got the guy out, then pulled the baby out of the car. That was his daughter," explained Christina Farley, a neighbor who heard the gunshots being fired.

Neighbors say the victim, who was transported to Hahnemann Hospital in critical condition, no longer lives in the area, but has family and friends here.

Now, they're taking care of the baby, who fortunately made it out of the car okay.

"She's doing just fine. The victim's parents and family are at hospital, and we just got off the phone with the mom, who will come get the baby," said Farley.
