Two Suspects Arrested In Murder Of South Philadelphia Bartender

By Tim Jimenez

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --Authorities announced the arrests of two suspects Friday allegedly involved in the deadly stabbing of a South Philadelphia bartender last month.

Already in police custody is 57-year-old Keith Hardy, who was arrested the day after the June 24th incident at T-Barr, located at 8th and Jackson Streets in South Philadelphia.

A police spokeswoman says they wanted to keep his arrest under wraps until they caught the second suspect, 31-year-old Omar Wright, which they did early Friday morning.

Police arrested Wright on the 1200 block of South Millick Street. They say he has a criminal record that includes 24 prior arrests.

Hardy and Wright now face murder charges, but it was Wright who police say stabbed 44-year-old bartender George Fox (See Related Story).

Owner Tom Barr describes the scene at the bar that night.

"(Wright) goes behind the bar, pushes George and starts stabbing him. Poor man never had a chance."

He says $600 dollars was taken from the register. Barr adds that it's been an uneasy few weeks and he's thrilled the suspects are off the streets.
