Super Scoop Ice Cream Festival Open All Weekend At Penn's Landing

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The 14th annual Super Scooper Ice Cream Festival is underway at Penn's Landing through Sunday.

Fourteen years ago, Jeff Kahn (photo) started the ice cream festival in memory of his son Josh who died of pediatric cancer.

"Fifteen years ago this year we lost Josh; and this is our 14th ice cream event so you see as soon as we lost Josh, we started the foundation. It is 14 years later in this event and this is what we're doing, raising a couple million dollars."

"I love remembering him (Josh) this way. He loved ice cream and that's why this event's here," adds Kahn.

He says all the ice cream is donated, and all the donations go to Children's Hospital.

"We have 25 different stations; we have 50 different flavors of ice cream. We have water ice and it's great. You come down here and at the same time what you're doing as you're eating ice cream is helping children at children's hospital because the money goes to help fund pediatric leukemia research."

The event takes place from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
