Authorities Investigating Chester County Crash That Sent Pregnant Woman To Hospital

EAST GOSHEN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) - Police in Chester County had been looking for a driver who they say fled the scene of an accident Tuesday afternoon that sent a pregnant woman to the hospital.

Westtown-East Goshen police had been looking for the driver of a white SUV who they say left the scene of an accident Tuesday.

Now, authorities say that driver, a 42-year-old West Chester woman, contacted police and is cooperating with the investigation.

It was noon in East Goshen Township. Police responded to the northbound lanes of Route 202, just north of the Boot Road Interchange. Witnesses say a white SUV was merging to the right lane, causing a Honda CR-V, driven by a woman seven months pregnant, to swerve out of the way to avoid a collision but hit a guide rail.

When they arrived, police found the woman's car rolled over. She was transported to the hospital but did not suffer serious injuries, according to police.

Police say the West Chester woman pulled over and stopped but then left the scene. No word on whether that woman is facing any charges.
