PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A Philadelphia Police officer was taken to an area hospital after colliding with another vehicle in the city’s Fairmount Park section.

The accident happened near Belmont Avenue and Montgomery Drive at about 9 p.m. The officer was racing westbound on Montgomery Drive to backup a fellow officer when, while turning on Belmont Avenue, the patrol car collided with a black Honda.

The officer was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and is being treated for neck and back pain.
