Miss Pennsylvania USA 2012 Resigns

By Todd Quinones

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It went from tiaras to turmoil pretty quickly. After she lost, Miss Pennsylvania USA 2012 quit.

Accusations posted on her Facebook page contend the fix was in during this weekend's Miss USA Pageant.

The top five beauty queens for Miss USA were predetermined before Sunday night's broadcast. That's the allegation posted on Sheena Monnin's Facebook page.

The post on her page calls the pageant fraudulent, lacking morals and in many ways, trashy. It also claims that Monnin spoke to another contestant who "saw the places for [the] top 5 already filled in" before the show.

However, the Miss Universe organization, which oversees Miss USA, fired back, saying that Monnin has changed her story. Pageant organizers claim that transgender contestant Jenna Talackova is the original reason why Monnin said she was quitting.

The Miss Universe organization cites an email that they claim they received on Monday from Monnin, which says, "I refuse to be part of a pageant system that has so far and so completely removed itself from its foundational principles as to allow and support natural born males to compete in it."

So far, efforts to reach Sheena Monnin, who's from western Pennsylvania, to clear up the matter have been unsuccessful.

In any case, her reign as Miss Pennsylvania USA 2012 is over.

Monnin did not crack the top 16 in the Miss USA Pageant. The Miss Universe organization went on to say that Monnin's accusations the contest was rigged are false.
