BLOG: Delaware AG Hosts Foreclosure Prevention Open Houses

By Jim Donovan: The office of Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden is sponsoring foreclosure open houses this week in locations statewide to assist homeowners who are behind on mortgage payments, facing foreclosure, or have questions about homeowner resources that are available.

These free events, hosted by the Attorney General's Foreclosure Prevention Office, will be held at the following times and locations:

Tuesday, June 5
6 – 8 p.m.
Laurel State Service Center 31039 N. Poplar St., Laurel

Wednesday, June 6
12 Noon – 1 p.m.
City/County Building, Council Chambers, 1st Floor 800 N. French St., Wilmington

Saturday, June 9
9 a.m. – 12 Noon
Appoquinimink Library 651 N. Broad St., Middletown
1 - 3 p.m.
Woodlawn Library 2020 W. 9th St., Wilmington

Walk-ins are encouraged. No RSVPs are necessary. At each open house, staff from the Attorney General's office will discuss the foreclosure timeline, provide tips on avoiding foreclosure scams, review state and federal programs for homeowners, and brief Delawareans on the national mortgage settlement and the ongoing federal review of 2009-2010 foreclosures.

Additionally, staff may be able to assist homeowners who are having difficulty reaching their lender to discuss repayment options or other alternatives to foreclosure.
