Attempted Murder Suspect Escapes Police Custody In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia police are searching for an escaped prisoner who is accused of shooting an elderly man inside his home earlier this month.

Authorities say 18-year-old Sean Johnson escaped and is currently considered a fugitive.

According to investigators, Johnson is accused of shooting an 80-year-old man in the stomach and leg inside the victim's home in the 6600 block of Yocum Street on May 17th.

The victim heard a noise in his basement and when he went to investigate, he was shot. The victim remains in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

A warrant was obtained and Johnson was taken into custody. On May 26th, while at the Southwest Detectives Division, Johnson escaped and is currently a fugitive. Authorities did not elaborate on how Johnson escaped.
