Montgomery County Nursing Home Struck By Lightning

PENNSBURG, Pa. (CBS) – The roof of a nursing home in Montgomery County was struck by lightning on Wednesday night.

The strike happened at Pennsburg Manor nursing home at Macoby & E 5th Streets around 7:15 p.m. Crews on-scene reported light smoke and odor on the second floor, but there were no reports of injury.

Pennsburg Manor later released a statement that read, in part:

"The local fire department responded and determined that the damage was limited to some electrical wiring on the roof. The center never lost power and all systems continue to operate normally. There was no smoke inside the building at any time and no patients or staff members sustained injuries."

The statement also noted that residents living in the affected area were moved to the other side of the building until it was deemed safe that they return to their rooms.
