Caught On Tape: Toddler Put Into Washing Machine

Epic Parenting Fail at a Laundromat by xkaminodouge on YouTube

By Jim Melwert

CAMDEN (CBS) -- Video of a young child being put into a washing machine inside a Camden Laundromat has gone viral on the internet, and now authorities are asking the family of the child to come forward.

The owner of the Laundromat located at 23rd and Federal Streets posted the surveillance video on YouTube under the title "Epic Parenting Fail at Laundromat."

The surveillance video shows a man putting a child – about a year old -- in a washing machine and closing the door, which then locks and automatically starts. The family and patrons then frantically attempted to open the door.

The young child was in the machine that was filling up with water and soap for several seconds before a worker finally cut the power to the machine.

The owner of the Laundromat credits the worker.

"I'm very proud of him. He's a good worker, he's been with me for eight years and couldn't find anyone better than him."

The Camden County Prosecutor's Office says they although they have not identified the family yet, the incident does not appear to be a criminal matter. They would, however, like to connect with the family to confirm the child is okay.
