Philadelphia's Seaport Museum Now Offering Sleepovers On A Ship
By Mike Dougherty
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Independence Seaport Museum is offering an interesting way for the public to experience life aboard a retired war ship.
Picture this: a crystal clear night sleeping under the stars on the U.S.S. Olympia's top deck.
Jeff Bryant, a Cub Scout den leader from North Jersey, says it's the perfect ending to a night of tours and nautical activities at the museum.
"It's something that I'm sure they'll think about for the rest of their lives."
The slumber parties can be booked by groups of 25 or more Friday or Saturday nights, but museum educational coordinator Olivia Thomas says the ship accommodates up to 60 campers.
"If you're an individual looking to do this, it's very easy, if we already have another group booked. Give me a call and see what else is already booked and what's available."
