Falls Township Police Officer, Driver, Injured In Bucks County Crash

LEVITTOWN, Pa. (CBS) – Tyburn Road was closed for several hours Friday following a police car accident that sent an officer and civilian to the hospital.

The accident happened just after 3 a.m. at Tyburn Road and New Falls Road in Levittown.

According to Lt. Hank Ward, 28-year-old Matthew Killeen, a three-year veteran of the police force, was traveling westbound on Tyburn when a vehicle crossed into his lane and struck his police car head-on. Officer Killeen was trapped inside his car, which caught fire after the crash, but backup officers were able to arrive and remove him.

Officer Killeen, who was recently married and is expecting his first child, was transported to St. Mary's Medical Center with fractures to his hip, back and pelvis and had to undergo surgery to repair a hand and arm injury.

The other driver, 36-year-old Brian Etier of Fairless Hills, was also transported to St. Mary's with serious internal injuries and is in critical condition.

Tyburn Road was closed between Route 13 and Cedar Lane in the area of Pennsylvania Avenue.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
