Police: Distraught Husband Intentionally Set Northeast Philadelphia Fire

By Steve Beck, Al Novack

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Investigators say that a fire that appears to be related to a domestic dispute was intentionally set in Northeast Philadelphia early Tuesday.

The fire happened at about 1:30 a.m. in the 3500 block of Primrose Road in the city's Torresdale section.

According to investigators, the incident began when a distraught husband set his car on fire that was parked in the driveway. The fire then spread to his home.

Firefighters were called to the scene and were able to place the fire under control in about 25 minutes. The fire caused substantial damage to the home.

The unidentified male who allegedly set the fire suffered burns to his hands and is currently under treatment at Aria Health's Torresdale Hospital. The suspect is expected to face charges after his release from the hospital.

There were no reports of any other injuries.

Investigators believe the arson was the end result of a domestic dispute.

The fire marshal and detectives are still investigating.
