PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The “Date with a Plate” fundraiser in East Falls marries unique table settings with a very special cause.

Co-Chair Sharyn Berman says the event takes place on May 8th and 9th at Sherman Mills and you can expect to see the place setting as an art form.

“And it doesn’t necessarily have to be what you think of as a table. In the past we’ve had breakfast in bed. This year, one of our presenters is actually doing a tailgate party.”

Some of the many participants include Neiman Marcus, Williams and Sonoma, along with private collectors. Berman says proceeds will be used to establish a serenity garden at Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center, “and it is a garden that will be located at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine.”

Berman says the committee members who worked so hard and hope this garden will be a tranquil place for patients, their families and healthcare providers.
