Area Teens, Parents Shelling Out Big Bucks For Prom

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Well-dressed teens will be rocking the dance floor at area high school proms, and the unforgettable memories don't come cheap.
It's the event of the year for many teens, and many families are spending a $1,000 to $2,000 for the special night.
Hallahan Catholic girls High School Senior Taylor DiVirgilio's prom dress alone cost more than $500. "It's definitely worth it," she says. "My dress is really vintage. I love it and it fits perfect."
Her prom tickets cost $215 dollars a couple. Then there the cost of the tanning, the limo, after prom and getting her hair and make up professionally done.
"I want to look. I guess classy"
The stylist at B2 salon on Broad Street in South Philly have special prom packages for $95 and up.
"We do the hair, the make up manicures, pedicures," Manger Mia Baker.
She says hair extensions are big this year. Depending on what the girl wants, that could mean hundreds of dollars added to the bill.
