Pilot OK After Single-Engine Plane Crashes At Gloucester County Airport
CROSS KEYS, N.J. (CBS) – The pilot of a small plane is lucky to be unharmed after the plane he was flying suffered a malfunction during landing.
Just after 2 p.m., Friday afternoon, the Monroe Township Police department was dispatched to Cross Keys Airport in Gloucester County for a report of a small plane that crashed while landing.
According to the report, the pilot, Jeffery A. Daniels, of South Hampton, NJ, was attempting to land a 1950 Piper Pacer, single-engine propelled plane, when he encountered a strong crosswind that forced the plane down on the runway.
As a result of the hard landing, a portion of the landing gear was damaged which forced the plane to land on it's left side.
Luckily, Daniels was not injured during the landing.
The FAA was contacted and is now investigating this incident.
