Police Release Surveillance Video Of Bicycle Pickpocket Suspect

By Paul Kurtz

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's a new twist on an age old crime: A pickpocket on wheels.

After checking through a number of surveillance videos, police investigators believe they have a solid description of the man who pedaled alongside KYW Newsradio's own Hadas Kuznits and plucked the wallet out of her pocket as she was riding her bike Monday evening in the area of 8th and Walnut.

It took him all of about 15 minutes to start running up her credit cards with small purchases, cigarettes and junk food.

He also tried to withdraw $200 in cash from an ATM, but was denied.

The suspect is described as a white man in his early 20's, small in stature and speaks with a British accent. He also has an extra large backpack, leading investigators to believe he may be a transient, who saw an opportunity to steal while passing through town.
