Assessing Doctors And Hospitals
By Dr. Brian McDonough, Medical Editor
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Are you concerned about the quality of care you receive at your hospital or the quality of your physician's care? You should be…and my guess is that you probably are quite concerned.
Certainly quality of care is not something that was invented in 2012, people checked into their doctors and hospitals twenty, fifty and a hundred years ago. But, now we have computer programs that actually measure the quality of your care.
These measurements are available on computer sites and are based on everything from the medications you get in the hospital to the rate of infection where you are getting your care.
Certainly it is important that you see this but the better part is that hospitals are also aware they are being monitored and they are making certain they improve in those areas being measured. That is a good thing as well.
