Bryzgalov On Foot Injury: 'I'm Tough And Russian'

By Lesley Van Arsdall

After months and months of criticism Flyers goalie Ilya Brizgalov seems to have found himself... or at least found a way to win. And then comes the injury.

Brizgalov practiced with the team for the first time after he was injured in warm-ups when a shot hit his foot before Monday's game. Doctors say he has a bone chip in his foot, something that is not too serious, but is painful.

Briz said today "I'm tough and Russian." Good.

Brizgalov is a goalie who is used to a heavy workload, in fact, he got almost all of the starts when he played in Phoenix.

My question is, with too much rest can we be sure he'll be the same goaltender he was in March? Missing a couple of games is fine, but the Flyers will definitely need him Tuesday against the Rangers.
