Temporary Urban Garden Marks Site Where New Shake Shack To Open

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A Big Apple landmark is coming to the City of Brotherly Love very soon—if a new feature at 20th & Sansom is any indication.
New York City's famous Shake Shack will open a Philadelphia outpost this summer. At the planned location just off Rittenhouse Square, a temporary urban garden of plants, flowers and shrubs nestled inside recycled steel planters has popped up.
The living wall, designed by eco-friendly, Philly-based company Shift Design, will be up until May before being dismantled and donated to the Rittenhouse Square Flower Market for Children's Charities. The Shack is expected to open shortly thereafter.
Shake Shack, a roadside stand-style eatery that offers burgers, hot dogs, fries, beer, wine and of course, milkshakes, opened in NYC's Madison Square Park in 2004, drawing huge success and legendary lines. Since then, owner Danny Meyer has expanded to places like D.C., Miami, Connecticut, and the Middle East, before coming to Philadelphia.
The new Shake Shack is just across the street from another famous burger joint, Jose Garces' Village Whiskey, and there's no word yet on what's expected to be longer: the wait list at Village Whiskey, or the line for the new Shake Shack.
