LCB: Some Customers Double-Billed For November Purchases

By Tony Romeo

HARRISBURG, Pa (CBS) -- If you see unexplained charges for wine and spirits purchase, you're not imagining things. It's a mistake that's being corrected, according to a Liquor Control Board spokeswoman Stacey Witalec.

She said the agency became aware this week that some 55-thousand customers who purchased wine and spirits from November 23rd through November 28th of last year may have been dinged with a duplicate charge.

"It was a credit card purchasing error," said Witalec. "As we were working to purge old purchase data, the computer system interpreted it as new purchases and incurred new charges for those same customers."

Witalec said the LCB is reaching out to affected customers.

She said the charges will be reversed and the LCB will make good on any overdraft fees that may result.
