On This Leap Day, Montgomery County Woman Discovers Truth About Her Birth Date

ORELAND, Pa. (CBS) -- A Montgomery County woman who was born in the Philippines learned from her family on this Leap Day that her actual birthday is February 29th.

Myrna Montgomery of Oreland in Montgomery County says she always had this feeling that February 28th wasn't her birthday.

Call it more than intuition.

So, finally Myrna says as this Leap Day approached, she wanted to know the truth from her ailing mother who still lives in the Philippines.

Myrna says she decided to send a text to her brother, Edgar, who is caring for her 85-year-old mother and asked him to ask her for the truth.

"He texted me back. He said 'Myrna, your real birthday is actually on the 29th.'"

Myrna says upon seeing the news, she began shaking and crying with joy, but still wanted to know why and her brother followed up with the explanation.

"She decided to put on your birth certificate February 28th because she wanted you to celebrate your birthday every year."

Myrna says even though she is observing her 54th birthday, she's thrilled to say on her actual Leap Day birthday, she's only 13.
