Police: Pennsylvania Constable Had Inappropriate Sexual Contact With Underage Girl

BIRDSBORO, Pa. (CBS) – A Pennsylvania constable has been arrested after authorities allege he had an inappropriate sexual relationship with an underage girl. Police say the relationship started on Facebook.

Bradley Andrew Buchanan, of Birdsboro, Pa., is facing numerous charges, including Statutory Sexual Assault and Indecent Assault.

According to investigators, detectives learned that from January 1st to February 5th of this year, the 27-year-old Buchanan knowingly and intentionally was sending inappropriate sexual messages to a 15-year-old through Facebook.

The messages were initially discovered by the victim's mother when she was checking her daughter's computer.

During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that Buchanan "friended" the victim on Facebook and they started to correspond on a daily basis.

Investigators say Buchanan knew the victim was only 15-years-old and continued to send messages to her that were sexual in nature.

On one occasion, investigators say Buchanan convinced the victim to go for a walk. She agreed and met Buchanan a short distance from her home. Buchanan then drove her to the Lake Drive Recreational Park in Douglasville where he parked the vehicle and investigators said he had sexual intercourse with her.

Investigators say Buchanan used a condom that was packaged in a blue wrapper.

On February 10th, detectives obtained search warrants for Buchanan's residence and his vehicle. Buchanan's cell phone was seized and as well as condoms packaged in blue wrappers.

Buchanan surrendered to police with his attorney on Thursday.

He has been charged with Statutory Sexual Assault, Aggravated Indecent Assault, Indecent Assault, Indecent Exposure, Corruption of Minors, Unlawful Contact With Minor and Luring a Child into a Motor Vehicle.

Buchanan has been a State Constable for over one year.
