Two Police Officers Injured After Cruiser Crashes Into Southwest Philadelphia Building

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Two Philadelphia police officers were hospitalized after their cruiser crashed into a building.

It happened at Buist Avenue and Massey Street in southwest Philadelphia.

The police car crashed into a hair-braiding salon with customers inside.

Police contend the driver of a van was making a u-turn in the middle of the street and the officer swerved out of the way and then crashed.

John Fambro's Granddaughter was inside the salon when the crash happened at 7:30 p.m.

"It's scary, because a lot of bad stuff can happen around here and its a shame kids can't be out here like this. I just hope the officers are okay," said Fambro.

Fortunately no one inside the salon was injured.

The 12th district officers were taken to the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania for treatment.

Neither officer was seriously hurt. However, One officer may have a broken arm.
