Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl VIII To Feature Puppies From Pennsylvania SPCA

By John McDevitt

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl VIII will air on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. The national broadcast puts the spotlight on adopting animals from shelters. Several puppies from the Philadelphia area are featured in the program.

Seven Pennsylvania SPCA puppies are among the more than 60 animals from across the nation participating in Puppy Bowl VIII.

Wendy Marano is with the PSPCA:

"The good news is they all have been adopted. We actually taped the puppy bowl several months ago and you know the message of puppy bowl, besides just the cuteness factor, is that there is a lot of terrific dogs in animal shelters and that we want to encourage people to support their local organizations."

You'll be able top cheer on the local pups like Malie the 12-week-old pit bull mix and Hollie the 11-week-old border collie mix.
