Gloucester Township Man Charged With Assaulting 5-Month-Old Son

By Dan Wing

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) - A 28-year-old Gloucester Township man was arrested over the weekend after being accused of assaulting his infant son on Friday.

Richard Pease is charged with two counts of 2nd degree aggravated assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Authorities say that Pease was alone watching his 5-month-old son on Friday when he shook the infant and threw him onto the couch.

He then called 9-1-1 around 4:30 p.m. to report the infant was non-responsive. The child was taken to Cooper University Hospital with multiple skull fractures and bleeding on the brain. The infant was in critical but stable condition on Monday.

Richard Pease is being held at the Camden County Jail on $150,000 bail. He told authorities that he became frustrated by the baby's crying.
