Search Is On For Philadelphia's Next Schools Superintendent

By Mike DeNardo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A search team is now in place, to help the School Reform Commission find Philadelphia's next schools superintendent.

The district's goal is to name a new Superintendent by July, so that he or she can get the school year started in September.

The search team consists of all five members of the SRC, as well as executive advisors Lori Shorr and Ed Williams and Chamber of Commerce CEO Rob Wonderling.  SRC member Wendell Pritchett will lead the search team.

The United Way is organizing 15-20 community meetings between now and the end of February, for the public to weigh in on what they'd like to see in a new super.

Lee Nunery has the interim job now, after last year's departure of Arlene Ackerman.
