Store Owner Shot During Robbery Attempt In North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A North Philadelphia store owner was shot once during a robbery attempt on Saturday night.

Around 5:45 p.m., police reported to the scene at 3049 N 5th Street, where they found the 45-year-old owner of a fish tank store shot in the leg.

Reportedly, two male suspects entered the store in an attempt to rob it. During the course of the robbery, the owner was shot in the leg. The victim was able to return fire and may have hit one of the suspects.

The suspects are described as Hispanic males. One was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans, and the other was in a blue hooded sweatshirt and jeans. They reportedly fled westbound on Clearfield after the victim returned fire.

Police were able to recover a revolver that was left at the scene.

The victim was transported to Temple University Hospital. There is no word on his condition.
