Senior Citizen Charged With Robbing Warminster Bank

By Brad Segall

WARMINSTER, Pa. (CBS) - A senior citizen from Montgomery County is free on $150,000 unsecured bail, accused of robbing a bank last week in Bucks County.

Warminster police say 78-year-old Barrie Golland of Elkins Park got away with less than $250 when he held up the Fulton Bank on Street Road three days before Christmas. Police tracked him down based on a traffic stop the day of the robbery, thanks to the sharp eyes of the bank manager who caught a glimpse of the car and the license plate.

Police say Golland handed the teller a note and then apologized, but they're not sure why he did it.

Police searched Golland's home in an exclusive Cheltenham condo building and, according to court records, they found a black winter vest they believe he wore during the holdup.

The charges include robbery, theft and receiving stolen property. Court papers reveal he admitted the crime to police.
