Cheltenham township police say they're investigating an early morning shooting death inside a home along the 1400 block of Beach Avenue in the township's Melrose Park section.

They say that shortly before 2:00 a.m., 911 received a report of a shooting. Upon arrival they found a visitor to the home shot multiple times. He was immediately rushed to the Albert Einstein Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police would not discuss a motive and the identity of the 25-year-old victim. The gunman is said to have fled in a grey sedan which was later recovered along the 6700 block of Old York Road.

The gunman, who apparently was known by the victim, remains at large.
