Ryan Howard Foundation Donates Food And Clothing In Hunting Park

By Cherri Gregg

Philadelphia (CBS) – The Ryan Howard Family Foundation brought a little Christmas cheer to the Hunting Park community Friday evening.

Dozens of families lined up in the Hunting Park Recreation Center on West Hunting Park Avenue to pick up more than a hundred donated turkeys, 200 coats, gloves and hats, as well as a holiday meal.

"Christmas with us has always been a time of family, a time of giving, caring sharing. So we wanted to give back and have an impact with over 500 families in this community. And we were able to achieve that," says foundation representative Corey Howard (photo).

Regina Hardaway volunteered to take turkeys to the elderly members of the neighborhood. She says the Howard family's generosity will have a huge impact on seniors in need.

"They'll have Christmas dinners in their home without ever having to come out and they'll stay safe."

Howard says his family's foundation adopted Hunting Park because of community-driven efforts to revitalize the area.
