Delaware Valley Non-Profit Brightens The Season For Local Families

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --A Delaware Valley non-profit organization is making this holiday season a little brighter for more than three dozen area families battling cancer.

Through its adopt-a-family program, the Great Guys Group is delivering presents to half a dozen families this holiday weekend and paying the bills of about three dozen more families. The Wayne organization was formed three years ago because families battling cancer can quickly run into problems paying their everyday bills.

"It allows people to understand that they are not alone…that people do care...that there's hope...that's the true meaning of the season for us," says Paul Isenberg, the co-founder and CEO.

He says the organization raises money throughout the year to pay the mortgage, rent, utility bills, insurance and other ongoing critical bills that help keep families in their homes. So far this year, they've helped more than 400 families in the tri-state area.
