<i>Analysis:</i> What Will Happen In Iowa Next Month?

Philadelphia (CBS) – The debating has stopped. The Republican voters across America are making up their minds.

For pollster Terry Madonna of Franklin and Marshall, the first test in Iowa is still a question mark.

"In Iowa now as we speak that race has gotten very, very close. Newt Gingrich has jumped again, Ron Paul has emerged. Ron Paul could win the Iowa Caucus coming up on January 3rd further complicating the Republican Primary process".

Madonna says expect the unexpected.

Montgomery County Democratic chairman Marcel Groen is part of the Obama team. He says that in one way the Republican struggle is helping the incumbent President.

"I think the primary that's taking place on the Republican side is enabling our leadership and our President to take very centrist and very moderate positions because he doesn't have to worry about a primary coming on his flank and I think that's a good thing."
