Expert Says Procrastination Doesn't Pay When It Comes To Christmas Shopping

By John Ostapkovich

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - With Christmas just 11 days away, free shipping on internet orders is about to get scarce, and those last minute deals might as well.

A survey by the couponing website www.retailmenot.com finds that something like a third of us are major shopping procrastinators, and a major reason is trying to outwait merchants for a deal.

Good luck with that says retailmenot's Brian Hoyt.

"We think they may unfortunately have their hopes dashed because we see that a lot of retailers have gotten smart about supply and demand and have made sure that the big box items that they wanted to move they discounted earlier in the holiday shopping season."

Hoyt says much action in the final week-plus is in stocking stuffers in the $100 or under price range.

Of course, he wouldn't mind if you went to retailmenot.com and see what their partners can do to save you some money.
