2 Young Children Critical After Wilmington House Fire

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – Two young children are in critical condition after a house fire in Wilmington, Delaware.

Just after 12:15 on Friday afternoon, Wilmington police and fire fighters responded to the 1100 block of Pleasant Street for reports of a house fire with children trapped inside.

Within minutes, a fire in a back bedroom on the second floor scene was extinguished.

After a thorough search of the home in heavy smoke, officers were able to locate the two children and remove them safely.

They were immediately transported to DuPont Children's hospital, where they are both listed in critical condition.

Fire Marshals are investigating the cause of the fire.
