Pileggi Not Running For U.S. Senate
By Tony Romeo
HARRISBURG (CBS) - A key state senator from the suburbs has decided not to jump in the Republican race for U.S. Senate.
It was just last week that Republican Dominic Pileggi, who represents portions of Chester and Delaware Counties, said he was considering a run for U.S. Senate. Now he has decided not to jump in the already crowded race for the Republican nomination. However, he was not in the mood to talk about it on Monday.
PILEGGI: "I don't have any comment beyond my public statement. Thanks."
ROMEO: "But I mean, what's your rationale for deciding not to run?"
PILEGGI: "I don't have any comment beyond my public statement."
By "public statement", Pileggi apparently refers to his Facebook page, where he says after a "great deal of careful consideration" he has decided not to run for U.S. Senate, and will continue to focus on his role as state Senate majority leader. Pileggi's Facebook statement thanks those who encouraged him to run.
