Hip Hop Bounced

By Lesley Van Arsdall

So, the Sixers have decided to get rid of their mascot Hip Hop. Apparently the fans didn't love him and so the new owners have retained Jim Henson's Creature Shop and Raymond Entertainment Group to develop the team's next mascot.

Good call, I mean they did create Elmo after all and Dave Raymond was the original Phillie Phanatic.

As for Hip Hop, the rabbit informed the team he has "fallen in love, married and will relocate to a rural part of Pennsylvania to start a family. He will therefore be unable to serve as the 76ers team mascot going forward, and will not again appear at a Sixers game." (Seriously that was what the team released) I think my parents told me the same story when my rabbit died.

I have to say while Hip Hop was entertaining, he always looked a little evil to me.

So, while we don't have basketball, and we don't know when the team will play again, we do know it will be with a new mascot.
