Monday Is The 26th Annual Food 4 Troops Holiday Giveaway

Philadelphia (CBS) – A local non-profit group is giving away Turkey dinners to families in need on Monday morning.

Food 4 Troops is also handing out money to active or recently discharged service men and women.

It's the 26th year Gene Epstein and his wife Marlene have organized the giveaway.

"We all have an incredible responsibility to these guys and gals who have put their lives on the line."

Volunteers will be passing out checks for between $50 and $200 to the first 50 service members who qualify. There will be a free turkey dinner complete with vegetables and dessert.

Gene says you don't have to be a member of the service to get a free meal.

"It can be for people that are out of work and receiving unemployment compensation or receiving welfare or disability from the government."

A hot breakfast will be served. It starts at 9 a.m. on Monday at the Calvary Baptist Church located at 250 Green Lane in Bristol.

The Epsteins hope to raise more money so they can give away more checks.
