Taubenberger Concedes to David Oh in GOP At-Large City Council Race

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The one unsettled City Council race in this month's election is now decided, with attorney David Oh the unofficial winner of that Republican at-large seat.

Elections officials tallied about a quarter of the more than 760 provisional ballots, with the trend going slightly in favor of Oh, who held a razor-thin advantage going in (see previous stories).

That's when businessman Al Taubenberger (below) threw in the towel.

"The count is what it is, and it has me down," Taubenberger said this afternoon.   What's next for him?  "It's really back to my day job at the Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce."

As for the councilman-elect, and the fact the race got this close, "I was not surprised," Oh told KYW Newsradio.  "I think that there were a lot of good candidates.  It was a very vigorous campaign, and you never know how these votes turn out."

Oh couldn't say if attacking radio ads and mailers that went out against him in the waning days of the campaign helped or hurt him. At this point, he says, it doesn't  matter.
